A practical approach to print preparation.

PrintCraft Course organizes prepress into visible, manageable checks: setting the correct page size, adding bleed, preparing images and color, exporting a PDF, and reviewing the file before production.

Small checks before expensive corrections.

The course treats print preparation as a sequence of testable decisions. Each exercise focuses on a file setting, paper choice, proof detail, or production instruction that can be inspected and corrected.

Set The Boundaries

Create the finished size, bleed, trim line, and safe area before placing text, images, or backgrounds.

Prepare The Artwork

Check CMYK color, image resolution, font handling, fine lines, and ink-heavy areas inside the layout.

Export And Inspect

Open the exported PDF and verify its page size, bleed settings, crop marks, fonts, and color profile.

Proof The Result

Use a printed proof or paper mock-up to review scale, margins, folding positions, type size, and color shifts.

Five principles behind the course.

Check Before Sending

A layout may look finished while still containing missing bleed, low-resolution images, unsafe margins, or font problems. A repeatable preflight check makes those issues easier to notice before submission.

Paper Before Finishing

The course connects digital preparation with physical results. Learners compare coated and uncoated stock, consider paper weight and grain direction, test folds on mock-ups, and review how lamination, scoring, binding, or heavy ink coverage may affect the piece.

Mock-Up Before Production

A paper mock-up turns measurements into something tangible. It reveals whether a brochure folds correctly, whether margins feel balanced, and whether important content sits too close to a cut or crease.

It begins with one question: what must this file survive in production?

A print layout must do more than look balanced on screen. It needs the correct physical dimensions, enough bleed, readable type, suitable image resolution, controlled color, and clear instructions for the chosen paper and finishing.

Practice moves from small file rebuilds to PDF inspection, proof review, paper comparisons, folded mock-ups, and short production notes. Progress comes from noticing one technical issue at a time and understanding why the correction matters.
